Battlestar Galactica -Blood and Chrome

Of course, yea i forgot about the realy old one. I thought i had miss something more recent. Never watched the realy old one though.

90% of the film is cgi, they didnt use any real sets at all.
still looks good though if indeed that trailer is real.

Yea what i meant by CGI was not green screen effects but animated characters. Maybe the young adama just wears so much make up that he looks animated. haha

Hardly realistic.
They have FTL that instantly teleports ships to locations lightyears away and can also displace any matter occupying the physical space.
Railguns, particle weapons, antimatter nukes are possible already, only antimatter costs quadrillions per gram. FTL isn't even theoretically possible without exotic matter.
Yeah but I think his point is still valid though, no matter the quibbles. Apart from the FTL (and of course the magical on-board gravity ;)), there were very few sci-fi conceits. Nothing was magically fixed by re-routing the multi-phasic power injectors, or the like.

What I liked about the first couple of seasons of BSG is that they really explored what it was like to live on this ragged edge. If they ran out of water, for instance, it was a big thing.

The great thing was that when things went wrong, and they often did, there were real consequences and the show wasn't afraid to really damage people and the fleet in general.

Just look at the amount of times there were military and civilian casualties because of a battle or a need for resources. It added a great depth of realism to the show imo. There was no magical 'it's going to be all ok' button (for the most part :p)

Episodes like ' The Hand of God' 'Scar', and 'The Passage' really stood out for me because they hit home with the fact there was a real cost to the situation they were in. There was a real sense of desperation.

Seeing as Blood and Chrome is to be set during the First Cylon war i hope that it follows much of the same mould and isn't afraid of killing people off. It is war afterall.

DRADIS CONTACT!

SET CONDITION ONE THROUGHOUT THE SHIP.

HNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

This cannot come soon enough. I'm just about to watch the final two episodes of season 3 and I'm utterly hooked. Even my wife now agrees this is better than her beloved SG1.

I'm going to need something to fill the void!

I could never go back to watching shows week by week.

We're still getting a pilot though. And if that draws rave reviews, you can bet they'll change their minds sharpish.

True, but doesn't that seem a bit douchy?

"We'll sneak out a trailer then say we're not picking it up, but we'll show the pilot and see what the hype is after...then we'll make a decision!"

:/

Given how long the pilot has been in post-production it's probably a pretty smart financial move not to order a full series until they see what reaction the pilot gets.

I can't imagine it's been cheap from that trailer.

exactly the whole think has been hit hard in post production - syfy werent really interested in it at all and its always been on the cards that they will just push to a web series and not tv. but that link above is so OTT, at no point do syfy say no this will never come to TV - they are wisely (after caprica) being cautious.

Lets not forget that bsg started as a pilot and got greenlit from reaction around that.
