BBC iPlayer coming to iPad this Thursday

Yeh I wondered why that happens as well. Was trying to think what the application is called which ticks the device so it think's its using a wi-fi connection (though it is)

That might help

I received this at 11:55pm :S? lol
Thank you for contacting the BBC iPlayer support team.

I understand you are experiencing problems accessing BBC iPlayer application on your iPad whilst connected to Mi-Fi.

Please note that it might be locally connecting by wi-fi but ultimately it's going through a 3G pipe. The service on iPad is designed to perform at an optimum level, which is not supported via 3G.

Hope you found this information useful.

Once again thank you for contacting BBC iPlayer.

Finally, I have attached an invitation from BBC Audience Services' Head of Communications & Complaints, asking you to participate in our customer survey. We would welcome your views on our service.

Kind Regards

Thank you for your recent email to the BBC. It is our aim to provide the highest standard of responses to emails we receive. To help us do this, I am writing to ask you to complete a customer satisfaction survey which is being conducted by the research company Ipsos MORI.

Your response will help us to judge how your most recent email was handled, so we'd be grateful if you could rate the service you received and the quality of our response. We aren't expecting you to rate the BBC, its output, or any previous contacts you may have had with us. The purpose of this survey is to help us understand the level of service we currently provide when responding to emails and to ensure we achieve the highest possible standards. We may use your individual responses to help in our staff training and performance management.

The questionnaire is very straightforward to complete and should take no longer than 5-10 minutes. You can log onto it in two ways, depending upon the email system you are using. You can either click onto the following website address, or paste it into your address bar (where you normally type in a website address). You will be guided through the questionnaire automatically once you have logged into it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to assist us.

There's only been a few times where I've ever NEEDED flash on my device. By this I mean the site is fully flash.

Otherwise it's the occasional video I can't watch. Though youtube is stupid as well even using the application. I posted 3 videos, 2 of them I couldn't watch on the iPad as apparently the creator disabled viewing on a mobile device... one of the others I searched for it and it played, I favourited it. Now it will not let me watch it.. weird
I do wish they would make friends, I don't see how the device isn't powerful enough. The battery life is good, if it was a bit worse because of flash I wouldn't mind. Hell the iPad 2 probably has better battery anyway. Or even the setting to turn it on and off..

Agreed. It is irritating to hear Jobs trying to feed us excuses as to why Flash won't be implemented on the iphone/ipad.

They design something as fantastic as an ipad, yet getting flash to run on it is insurmountable for some reason? Oh it's buggy/uses battery power? Oh, the world is heading towards html 5? How does this help me view videos on the bbc website? How does this let me buy/sell shares on my flash only spreadbetting site?

Basically, I think apple have a duty to include flash (or at least allow 3rd party development) on the iphone and ipad and let their customers (remember us?) decide if it's buggy or not. We can decide to switch it off if it drains the battery too quickly.

I'd love an ipad, but it doesn't let me view the web pages I like to view. That's a prety fundamental flaw in my book.
