BBC Rogue Traders presenter guilty of £24k benefits fraud!

And if that was a non-celebrity, they would get much harsher punishment.

Rubbish, it would have had no bearing on his sentence at all. He barely even qualifies as a celebrity anyway, all he does is ride a motorcycle and say a few words. He isn't the main presenter.

Seems a little daft to jail him, should be doing community service or at least out so he can earn money to pay back, rather than costing us thousands to keep him locked up.

It doesn't matter whether he is a so called celeb or not but the fact that he appears on a show would have had bearing in the judges decision. Let's compare crimes that "normal people" commit against "celebs" who are also normal people in my mind and see the difference in sentencing.

The justice system continues to be a joke.

Compared the sentencing notes from various cases have you?

Well the sentencing in our courts does seem ridiculous.

Take that guy during the rioting who got a 6 month term for stealing a bottle of water. Just a bottle of water. Value? Probably 50p. (edit; was actually £3.50, but point still stands)

Then someone who steals something of the value of £24,000, gets only three months?

Where is the scale here? The consistency? The judge you get on the day seems to be a complete lottery.

It kind of works in their favour. They found out one of their own was dodgy and sacked him.

Not really, they only sacked him after a guilty verdict from a court of law.

Now whilst they may sound sensible, Rogue Traders are happy to act as judge and jury on the tradesmen they show, they don't wait until a criminal conviction has occurred before showing them on the programme.

Usually they go after people that have already been closed down though?
