Beards - why do you have yours? (question for the gents only hopefully..)

Sometimes pure laziness really, i cant be bothered to shave every day tbh and it annoys my boss but i think i look good with a bit of stubble. But usually i will grin and bear the pain if u have meetings etc.
I used to keep a goatee myself but i shaved it off because first it was a pain to keep in shape and secondly its too much effort lol.
At the moment im clean shaven but im looking for a new style so will probably grow 2 lines down my face and then join them up at my goatee i think.

it depends what colour pen i use for my lips and eyebrows, also not every colour goes with all my other noses. You all know how it is

To be honest though if I were a man and had to spend all that time every morning having to shave and risk cutting myself/rashes etc I'd grow a beard.

A big bushy Brian Blessed one and yell 'MORE WINE WENCHES!' at every available opportunity.

thanks! made me chuckle :D

had one while I was doing my A levels, mainly to compliment my long hair (had a 12 inch ponytail by the time i got rid of that). Was big bushy one, that I would trim every month or so with a set of hair clippers to a number 2 length.

Got a job on the condition that I got my hair cut, so switched to keeping myself clean shaven. got an electric shaver a few years ago, far better than wet shaving. I tend to let my facial hair grow for about a week, then cut it on a nice lazy weekend morning. I end up with a nice light beard by the end of each week, which is fun to stroke, and doesn't look too bad.

Fortuantely, I have been shaving since 13 (19 now), so have never had any problems with ID, as I start looking reasonably stubbly pretty soon after. Its brilliant, most people seem to guess mya ge at about 24-25. Even had one peson think I was in my 30s. Admittedly I was going along to a judo session in a suit, with my Gi in a bag, but even so...

I grew my beard about 2 years ago as a dare at work, I'm very tempted to ditch the old beard now though, well goatee problem is I'm that use to seeing myself with it I'm a little scared I'll be rather featureless without it!

It's never been a long goatee, never could grow it without it itching or just looking a complete mess but I've grown strangely attached to it! I'm 31 tomorrow though and tempted to shave it off so I look a little younger, vanity! oh vanity etc.

Apart from anything else my skins starting to get dry under it no matter how much or how often I moisturise it..

Wow I sound so damn manly <flex>

Dont look very manly with a bottle of Alco-pop in your hands either imo :p

So jealous of all you guys who can grow beards. I'm 25 and couldn't if I tried, if I didn't shave for a week I might just about have a thin stripe of 5mm bits of bumfluff across the bottom of my chin and upper lip.
I can only conclude that my mum fooled around with a native american indian as my dad has a huge beard and my brother is a hair monster.

Lol.

I hate having to shave, so I go through a phase of

1) Shave. Yay! I'm clean shaven.
2) Don't shave (or even attempt to tidy beard up) for two weeks.
3) Beard for as long as I can keep it trimmed nicely without messing it up by shaving whilst tired/asleep/drunk/in a rush.
4) Once I've messed up the symmetry of my beard irreparably, Go to 1. :)

I grew my beard when I was 15 to make me look older so I could buy alcohol (it worked!) It was originally an 'Abraham Lincoln' but eventually the itching got to me so I shaved part of it and have had a goatee since (I'm now 20.) I'm scared that I'll look really weird if I shave it off so for now it will remain (I'm generally too lazy to shave anyway it's so much hassle!)

Same I grew a beard when I was in my mid teens so that I could go to the pub.
I still have it now as I'm going through the hippy stages of life.

I ended up shaving mine off yesterday after work, was my birthday, had a few drinks and the old "trimming" thing went badly wrong so I just took the whole thing off before heading out to the pub.

Oddly I keep going to rub my beard today! must be a habit I never knew I had!

me as a beardless chump

Slightly drunk/cheesy Magnum PI attempt at a pose. Feel free to humiliate me, I deserve it to be honest. :p
