I did,

Went and bought a Seagate 2TB external drive at a well known catalogue high st place today. for £70 ripped it apart to find one of these inside

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-244-SE

yes same model code etc etc.

they are also doing the 3GB version of the same external drive, for £120 with a £20 gift voucher back for spending over £100 :)

Foxtrots top tip, buy an external and gut it.

only downside will be the lack of warranty if you damage the caddy removing the drive. can be done with no damage if your careful though :)

I just bought a 160GB HDD from here today for something like £40.
Begin with A?

seagate lie.

the model number off the drive i took out matched the one listed above exactly.

even though the external is listed as a 7200. DAMN YOU SEAGATE. but ta for the cheap drive )

its their xmas offer, you get £5 for every £50 to spend between now and end nov and £5 to spend dec1 t0 the 24th.

Idea is good in theory but you sill have invalidated any warranty you would have had with the drive.

If it goes belly up i'll buy another external :) still almost break even with the price of drives just now,

or seeing as i removed it carefully i'll put it back in the caddy and take it back to said catalogue shop for a replacement :)

Can you check the warranty of the drive here? If you use the codes from the drive (not the caddy) it should tell you whether it is valid or not.

I have found the vouchers are they for any purchase you want towards?

yup,

i used a voucher from a previous visit to pay towards my external

warranty doesnt show up. as mentioned its classed as an oem drive so warranty is with the retailer easy sorted throw it back in the caddy and take it back :)

yeah and the catch that you can only spend 1 x 10 voucher in Nov and 1 x 10 voucher in Dec.

nice one vendor
