Beaten Labrador puppy caught on CCTV!

I just skim watched the video, I had been worried I'd find it hard to watch - tbh as animal abuse goes, this wasn't all that bad - did he draw blood or break any bones? Don't think so - tbh the dog doesn't even appear to be trying to flee in terror and pain. That said, if I'd been walking past and seen him doing it, I'd have smacked the guy about a bit (or at least wanted to), but seriously - if that was the extent of the level of animal abuse in the world, I'd be happier than I am with it...

Also, you have to remember it does depend on your perspective on animals - how many little kids pull wings off flies or burn ants with magnifying glasses? To many other people, all animals are 'just animals'. Not saying it is right, but it means that they don't necessarily have the same attitude towards people and might even be really nice where people are concerned.

I think the punishment did fit the crime in this case, perhaps an added black eye just for good measure...

How on earth do you train a dog to put an injured person in the recovery position?

"Drag them out of the road and bark to attract attention" is something I can see a dog being trained to do, but "put them in the recovery position and keep them warm with a blanket" is indeed an awesome level of understanding for a dog.

he could also pull the plug on the bath and get help if his owner fell unconscious in the bath.
The above Able Magazine article continues by noting that "Over the years, Endal has learned to pull the plug out of the bath before going for help if Allen falls unconscious whilst bathing, and is able to put Allen in the recovery position, hit the emergency button on the telephone and summon help ... Endal has learned how to use cash and chip and pin machines, as well as helping out with the shopping, opening train doors, operating lifts, unloading the washing machine and more typical doggie skills like getting the paper.
