And it feels like all I have been doing is trying to polish a turd.

Had a drain blockage a week or so ago and today I had a different company come in and put a camera up the pipe - Well it's totally cream crackered - It's Pitch and Asbestos and got blisters in it - A sunken part and a few creases - Only light at end of the tunnel he found a manhole I didn't know we had - I think it's just a rodding point so concrete chamber with concrete lid on - need to dig down and find it -He did tell me how far from each end so they may tie up-- Had one at my old house which was on a bend -Found it buried under my shed.

Digging it all up will be a nightmare (25mtrs) Plants -edging-lawn- gravel path will all have to come out - Then the top bit -Slabs (not a problem) but underneath is 4" of the old concrete paths - then the trench is close to the fence with concrete posts with only half bag of postcrete holding them up (Old neighbour did it) and it's getting on for 4ft deep - Good point is ground is sandy.

I can't think of any one thing that has been good about this place - Jerry built in early 70's

Have you or anyone confirmed the reason for the blockage? Or the falls ok or is it a neighbour bunging half a dozen wet wipes down the loo every morning?

The pipes are pitch and asbestos - they have a 40 yr life cycle and are now on their 50th year - One part has sunk probably due to sandy soil getting wet and pipes sink in to it- the rest is blistering and folding - like ridges along pipe and sewage then runs either side of ridge slowing it down.

Once you commit to a house odds are on you will stay there -it's only over the years when problems arise and you think hell and damnation - Two doors away their kitchen floor is 1" lower at one end - next doors bathroom like mine doesn't have 90 deg corners which makes it hard to fit a bath or shower tray in - Silly things but lots of them.

This is our retirement bungalow - my next house will probably be a old peoples home.

Maybe a mole-drilling specialist could sort a parallel pipe? I had a new mains water pipe moled because it was quick, easier on my back and worth the cost. No plants/ paths/ drive to disturb and then restore. So my mains water and your pipe are different sizes- but might be worth investigating.
Good luck.
ps Only 10 years? I've been at mine for 20 and the end is in sight, unless SWMBO wants something else first...……..
