Sorry if this seems like a thread hijack but my 8800GTX has finally kicked the bucket after nearly 4 years of service!
I want to replace it with a decent card that will last me a while!

I have kind of lost touch with the PC hardware world since I didn't bother to upgrade

have a budget of around £170 if anyone can think of a better card!

To the OP:

That 9800GT in the clearance section should be absolutely fine. Failing that I'd get a 5670 as its more powerful than a 430 for gaming, very low power requirements and it's great for any video stuff.

I got a ATI HD5770 1gb for £65 recently on the member market... really good card for the money, highly recommend it. Maybe worth considering.

Don't push your luck with that PSU, it's inefficient, weak on 12V rails (just 360W of combined output), old and not recommended in general.
