This may explain why some of you guys have no issues with GTA4 load times and popup while other find it horrendous.

GTA4 caused my samsung drive 360 to RQOD on me and my replacement is a BENQ but it seems to load data a lot slower (hence quieter I suppose) and from research it appears I'm definitely not the only one. How annoying.

Hmm, I've got two UK consoles here, one with a BenQ and one with a Samsung. I've tried my GTA4 (legit copy - almost feel I have to mention that in case anyone doubts) in both and there really isn't a lot of difference between the two so this clearly doesn't seem to be all BenQ drives.

When do you notice the loading time? Ive played it for a few hours tonight and not noticed any long load times, certainly nothing like Forza2. This is on a BenQ Hdmi box

Initial GTA load takes a while on both the 360 and PS3, but load times between mission cutscenes are fairly fast on both, a little bit quicker on PS3.

But my Benq is fairly loud and no issues with loading times, haven't had much pop-in either.

My BenQ is definitely slower than my Samsung drive, has a few instances where textures cant keep up, especially when pelting it in a chopper.

Takes longer to start the game too.

Road textures and the intro loading mostly.

I just swapped out my BENQ for my old samsung drive and it's far better (but a lot louder >_<).

Mine is an '06 console, noticed a slight bit of texture popping last night on a corner, only time I've seen it mind...have nothing to compare loading times to but they're great.

Using the Hitachi drive. Not really noticed any pop-up, just in the distance you can see people and cars fading into view. Also the loadings are pretty fast, bar the start up loading. All missions take about 4-5 seconds to load.

No idea what drive my 360 premium has but GTA seems to have killed it  I bought it last June.

Went to play it after having dinner last night and now it wont read any disks.

Got to go get a replacement one tomorrow hopefully.

This proved to be a real problem for me with a backup disc of GTA IV. Textures took ages to load, making the game unplayable. However, with the real retail copy I haven't had much problems at all. My benq is also running at 8x instead of standard 12x.

I really wish we could have a hard drive to install the game on, like with the original xbox :)
