BenQ FP241W Review

I'm not gona bother till the next revision comes out, hopefully by then they would have fixed the stretching issue and add 1:1 support. Sticking to my 21" for now.

I'm still completely in two minds about this.... is there ever likely to be a version that does 1:1 pixel mapping?
Reading that review and indeed the forum comments was quite interesting... it would seem as though it's likely that the x360 and in all likelyhood the ps3 will be able to control the resolution itself.
Such a nice monitor, but I dont know what to do!

Just read an interesting commen on another forum (hope its true)

" sent an email to the BenQ support people asking the following:

If I feed a 1080i or 1080p signal into this monitor via component or DVI, say from a HDV Camcorder or from a HD-DVD Player, the signal sent from the device will be 1920x1080. A ratio of 16x9.

This monitor however, is 1080x1200, a ratio of 16x10. I want to know whether the signal that I input will be displayed correctly at 16x9, with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, or whether the image will be stretched to fill the screen.

The product site specifies that the 16x10 display means that there will be no image distortion, but I forsee it as being exactly the opposite, since no video footage is ever shot in 16x10.

Thank you for your help,
-- John.

And their reply:

According to our product specialist there is a firmware update being released in December that will resolve the issue you are asking about.

fingers crossed then eh!

1:1 im not too fussed about m8 I just want the damn screen the rest of my new rig arrives tomorrow but still no screen and no word on BenQ regarding the real date that they will ship to retail

I really want the 'Z' version of this screen. I emailed BenQ about it and they said its out soon. I wonder when OCUK will be getting it?

I wonder if they want to fix this issue before releasing in UK, rather than having to deal will multiple returns :D
since 'we' have been so vocal in our disblief over their dumbness in releasing a monitor with this vital feature missing

I have had this monitor on order since day 1 here so if they do add 1:1 pixel mapping then the wait will be worth it.

Im using a 32" lcd tv at the moment and it's great but Just way too big for my needs tbh so a 24" with a higher res would be ideal

As far as I thought (and Badass may correct me on this) but I thought the BenQ would NEVER support 1:1 mapping as it's not just a simple case of a firmware upgrade, you need specific hardware (e.g. scaling chips) to do 1:1 on a HD or component or VGA input.

Saying that on the whole 1080i/p / VGA / Component issue I am completely confused - far too many options and variations

I think I'll go and continue complaining about the 2407's banding* ;)

*this is a joke

This has all got me rather confused as to which screen to get now

I can get the BenQ for trade price and a Dell for a little less than the BenQ, which way do I go
