BenQ XL2730Z Freesync Owners Thread

I think it is settled I will be putting my Eizo Foris "240"hz on gumtree to off set for one of these bad boys. Since you can unlink a Amazon account for finance.

It's lovely, but the 40Hz cutoff is very stark. I play lots of GW2 and the game runs at 50-60 fps in busy cities, 100ish out in the wilderness, but can drop as low as 25 in a world boss zerg and going too low for FreeSync is terribly noticeable:

- 100fps: butter smooth
- 70fps: still butter smooth
- 45fps: butter with a few toast crumbs in
- 35fps: suddenly CRUNCH!

But 45fps on this screen feels like the 60fps max on my old one, so I can hardly complain, right? :)

Guys what do you make of the ghosting? It looks quite bad in the pcper review, that's the only thing holding me back at the moment.

Well I've managed to get freesync working on my 295x2 by shutting off the 2nd core with a profile.

Freesync is nice for what it does, the image was butter smooth but coming from using the screen with blur reduction enabled ghosting became really apparent.

I'm starting to wish I'd just sent this back when I got it now, every review of the screen has showed ghosting with freesync on and after reading into it, it seems freesync doesn't compensate for ghosting like gsync does and this is why although the Swift and BenQ use the exact same panel, one shows ghosting and the other doesn't.

So are you peeps enjoying your BenQ monitor? According to PCPer.com its a ghosting mess due to freesync but then again who are trusting them these days. Please comment with your own experiences im curious.

Its nothing to do with Freesync mate! They is some Ghosting on Stock preset config. But once you tweak the settings I have zero ghosting so far..

The Ghosting at first was with or without FreeSync!

My Setting
Game Settings
Blur Reduction - Off
Black EQ - Off
Colour Vib - 10
Low Blue Light - Off
Instant Mode - On

Picture Settings
Mode - Standard
Brightness - 100%
Contrast - 40%
Sharpness - 5%
Gamma 5
Color Temp - Normal
AMA - High
Dynamic Contrast - Off

So far am loving it, Right away you can notice the difference is games feel and motion fluid..

I know it has nothing to do with Freesync cause Gsync certified screens also have it including the SWIFT before calibration. I was taking a stab at PCPer.. they get more and more on my nerves, well Ryan and Allyn does..actually like the Walrath dude.

The monitor definitely has ghosting, the guy who works for pcper did the test with the AMA setting off, high and premium and said it was still there on all 3. Looks like AMA is either not working or the panel BenQ picked is bad and has been confirmed to be different to the one in the swift. The video was done with it set to high anyway which is default and is usually the best setting for BenQ screens.

Just tried it here. AMA options are off, high, and premium. Default is high. Changed between all three settings with the FreeSync windmill demo running and saw no change in ghosting at all (it still does it).

Even the 60hz IPS LG with freesync showed better results :/
