Hi , asking for a mate as i havent had air coolers for some time, what is the best air cooler for socket 1366 at present as he is building a system and would like to give it an overclock

Though not air cooling but as easy if not easyier to fit then a big heatsink is the H50 which is nice.

Yeah he has looked at the H50 and the Prolimatech Megahalems , the only thing puts him off a big cooler is strain to the Motherboard ?maybe ??

Does the H50 come with a fan and if it does is it quiet, also i think he read that it gives similar temps to the Prolimatech Megahalems is that about right?

yeah they come with a fan and yes they are pretty quiet..performance is around TRUE/Prolimatech Megahalems not much apart

Most of the mounts are pretty well thought out, so I wouldn't worry about the motherboard.

The only one that hasn't been mentioned so far and beats pretty much anything air wise is the Thermalright IFX-14, due to its huge surface area. I've just ordered one so hopefully it will arrive today or tomorrow. The only issues with it are the price and size.

The Corsair H50 is good if you have the space to mount the rad near the CPU, if not and you don't have space for the IFX-14, the Prolimatech Megahalems would be what I'd go for.

Thanks for all your advice , he has decided to go for the H50, there is a pic of it with the lian-li case he is getting in one of the other threads.

TRUE or Megahalems get my vote.

I will have a TRUE going up on the MM in the next week, as I am going for a custom WC loop for my chip and gpu.

Let us know how it goes?

Im using the TRUE black on mine, it's stood me well with my previous 2 intel s775 quads, being lapped certainly helps it as well.
