The 'Where are we now?' section at the bottom of the article covers this to some degree - nobody knows exactly as it's all speculation at the moment. The latest commercially available OLED screen, which is a tiny 15" EL9500 from LG, retails for around £1500 at the moment. LG plans on releasing a 30" OLED screen for perhaps £4000 or so (again - pure speculation) in March and possibly a 40 incher afterwards. If you remember back to plasma TVs, they were ridiculously expensive in the 'early years'. OLED is undergoing the same process - as the article also explains Samung and LG are investing billions in the technology and the development of production lines. Once this is complete research and development costs should come down considerably and in the years following I see mass-market viability.
I haven't got the time right now to fully interpret it but they mention that they plan to use their 5.5 gen line for "IT products" and this is due to go live in 2012!
Nothing for me to get to exited about for now then , not gonna wait a year ot pay a grand for a monitor, maybe in 3-4 years ill look into it when upgrading the hansg(if i buy it).

Yeh these things are gonna be stupidly expensive when they start to hit the market by the look of things but as with all technology they will slowly move from expensive "enthusiast" products to mainstream affordable pieces of kit. Hell if there as good as this article suggests then they will probably be the new "HD" tv a few years down the line.
That see through laptop screen was pretty fukin awesome aswell, i can see that tech having loads of useful applications.
I will expect at least 3-4 years before you can buy a decent one for less than £500. But they look good... I think I am going to move towards the Dell U2410 in the meanwhile before I upgrade to that kind of screen.
If anything im even more happy with the idea of a cheapo hansg 25" now, should get a good few years out of that then maybe get this super new tech when its affordable.
