I've got a smallish room that I aim to convert to a small cinema room, currently has just a sofa bed at one end and a chest of drawers at the other, have an old 43" TV currently.

It's next to my man cave which contains my pc etc so is quite a good space to use whilst wifey is watching Strictly, Jungle etc etc.

I'm looking for a 50" TV, will also have a surround sound setup, but looking for decent quality without breaking the bank.

I have the full sky package and all the usual apps.

Question is what would be the best TV for quality without breaking the bank?

Got a decent budget, room is quite dark, any recommendations?

Our friends in the Rain Forest have it at that price now so might as well wait to see what Black Friday brings, would never have considered the Phillips so thanks again.

Will check out a few reviews but definitely looks to be a contender, Ambilight does look cool

Thanks Lonewolf, will have a look at this but was looking at 50" maximum, we do have a 55" Samsung in the lounge so I might see what it looks like in place, again might also see what black Friday brings

Distance would be around 2 to 2.5 metres from my chair to the screen, this is flexible though.

Just told the wife I might try our 55“ Samsung in the room to see what the size looks like and she’s rolling her eyes, not sure she understands

Have a look at the Samsung 50QN90B Neo QLED. It's £899 with a free sound bar offer, but I believe there's a Samsung direct deal too where you can get an extra £100 off for a trade-in of any old telly.

I've got a QE55QN94A in my lounge, love it. When I bought it I was torn between that and the LG OLED, went for the Samsung as that room is very bright.

The converted bedroom isn't so looking potentially at something that does darks better, such as perhaps the OLED, or the Phillips originally mentioned.

Keep checking to see if there are any early Black Friday deals, price is always a factor.

1 in 20 chance to win your money back on some models at currys

Wonder if you can return if you don't win your money back

Thanks for all of your input, eventually ordered a Samsung QE55S95B which came with a free soundbar, cancelled almost immediately and now I have a LG OLED55C2 with a half price LG-S95GR 9.1.5 soundbar arriving today.

Can't wait!

In for a penny as they say!

Don't buy the smaller TV you will always regret it. This is coming from experience. (went 55", should have gone 65", ended getting 65" three years later)

When I created this thread I was convinced 50" was the largest I could go to, instead went for 55" and really wished now I'd gone even larger. Even wife comments that the 55" doesn't look out of place.
