on the verge of signing up with them, how good is the supplied modem/router? im currently using a netgear dg834g v1 and whilst i can flash to support adsl2, is it better than what they provide?

if not whats a good router to use, good as in reliable/fast etc.

I wouldn't rush to buy anything else just yet, wait and see how you get on with the one they supply first.

does the one they supply have things like being able to limit the wireless access by mac address?

whats the make/model of the router they supply?

ah seems to have wireless access lists.

i currently use my router as the dhcp server and firewall, i assume this router will provide similar functions? specifically a SPI firewall?

It's terrible for Xbox Live. Strict NAT all the time, port forwarding has no affect and there is no DMZ option.

Good otherwise though.

oh im going to need port forwarding, i remote desktop into my machines from work all the time.

whys it terrible for xbox live?

Used mine with my main pc, laptop and my 360 since January without a single problem. Not sure what makes it "terrible for Xbox Live" but I've never had any issues at all.

It's terrible for the reason I put in my post. Strict NAT all the time. Which means most of the time I can't join 50% of my friends list, and when I can join them I can't hear them talk because of the NAT.

The 780 supplied by BE has their own firmware -can't say what the difference is I have just started to use a 780 myself and its great on a poor line. Noise 6 or 7 Attenuation 42. Rock solid and coming down at 8000 and up at 768. Three and a half kil. from exchange as per BT's software (software has since been taken out of circulation) Not as the crow flies. On Ukonline.

Have you gone into "Game & Application Sharing" and added device/IP/ports?

Yes. As well as a number of telnet commands, but they don't work either.

I haven't tried it on any Windows applications, just Xbox Live and it doesn't work.
