A friend of mine wants to spend £150 on a new card, I Know there are plenty of pci cards - but what agp shouild i recommend. He is really into his games... Half Life Doom etc etc...

;-)

Perhaps an
BFG GeForce 6800 GS OC 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-013-BG) at 140

It's unlockable to 16 pipes and very overclockable.
He could stretch and get a Leadtek GeForce 7800 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-085-LT) at 180.

EDIT: I love my x850 Pro unlocked to XT PE speeds. Thought I can't see it on OcUK It might be worth a look as well.

Personally (I know this is probablly not what you want to here) but you could grab the Asrock 939 motherboard. obviously no use if he has a Pentium or a 754.

Could you give more info on the specs of his machine (CPU and so on)?

Another vote for 6800

I have been very impressed with this card, i personally don't have one but a friend does, no problems, high performance, reasonably cheap as far as graphics cards go
