Best Albums of 2010

I was somewhat disappointed with it, though all the tracks were of a high standard none of them really had any wow factor about them unlike previous albums.

That's the main reason I made this thread was to get some new bands to listen to.

I can see what you mean about the album, my favourite tracks by them are (in no particular order) :

1. You give me something
2. Hot tequilla brown
3. Feels just like it should
4. Seven days in sunny june

Unfortunately none of my friends listen to Jamiroquai probably because late teens don't, the only song they know by "him" is Virtual Insanity. :(

I think the standout songs on the new Jamiroquai Album are:

White Knuckle Ride
Two Completely Different Things
Never Gonna Be Another
Hey Floyd

I can understand newer fans not liking it, it's more like their first few albums than their recent more radio friendly efforts.

Just got tickets to see them next year :D

"Sir Lucious Left Foot", "How I Got Over", "The ArchAndroid" or "Crooks & Lovers" for me, too close to pick just one really.

"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" does seem as good as a lot of people are saying, but I've only had it about a week so can't really pass judgement or include it on my list yet, maybe I can add it before the year end.

The first 3 I listed though I've been listening to since release and they are brilliant.

Albums I've enjoyed so far:

Gogol Bordello - Trans-Continental Hustle
Girl Talk - All Day
Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (II)
Titus Andronicus - The Monitor
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Interestingly, not one mention of Celldweller! (I guess that's because no album? Are you dissappointed with The Lucky One?)

haha, Well I thought it was a bit cheeky mentioning the two single/EP releases this year.

Initially I didn't like The Lucky One but it has grown on me, still think some of the lyrics are stupid though. Tainted is a bit odd, probably the weakest of the second album songs so far.

Soundtrack for the Voices in my Head Vol 2 (chapter 1) is brilliant though.

It's not been a great year for music. There have been one or two standouts only. For me, these were the notable ones.

Dementia Ad Vitam - De Gaïa, Le Poison
Svarte Greiner - Penpals Forever [And Ever]
Phelios - Astral Unity
Demdike Stare - Liberation Through Hearing
Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Sepulcros de Miel

Very nearly albums of the Year:

Orphaned Land - The Neverending Way of ORwarriOR
Cloudkicker - Beacons
Hexperos - The Veil of Queen Mab
Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit

AOTY:

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles [II]

Adebisi Shank - 'This is the second album of a band called Adebisi Shank'
Ben Folds & Nick Hornby - The Lonely Avenue
Fang Island - Fang Island
Foals - Total Life Forever
Freelance Whales - Weathervanes
Kele - The Boxer
Mimas - Lifejackets
The National - High Violet
Pulled Apart By Horses - Pulled Apart By Horses
Sky Larkin - Kaleide
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Let It Sway
Tokyo Police Club - Champ
The Xcerts - Scatterbrain

Although I've mainly been listening to EPs more this year.

The National - High Violet
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Deftones - Diamond eyes (seem's to have gone un noticed but it's their best to date imo)

Personally for me, because I love Drum & Bass and Pendulum.

It has to be Immersion. Best Album IMO, but it all depends what music you're into!
I'm also going to see them live at Metro Radio Arena on... Thursday! YES!

I have only bought one album that came out this year... so by default it goes to Paul Gilbert - Fuzz Universe. That can't be right.... :o

My favs this year:

Bonobo - Black Sands
Hybrid - Disappear Here

Funny, as I'm mostly into rock. Guess that goes to show just how far commercial rock music has fallen since the 90s.

I think the best album I've heard this year has got to be:

Slash - Slash (Featuring various artists)

Just the way he's hit back after not being able to find a singer for Velvet Revolver, and all the crap about Guns N' Roses, to come out and make a fantastic solo record, with a lot of legendary artists contributing to it! Great album!
