Always love this thread every year. great chance to catch up some of the music I may of missed out on.

Album of the year for me has definatly been Arcade Fire - Suburbs, stunning album.

Also really enjoyed the Foals and the National as well.

Freelance Whales are ace, really good album - much prefer them to the likes of Mumford (the genre they get boxed in mostly) myself personally.

Some of those choices of mine may be a bit out there for some people though! (ie. Adebisi Shank!)

Can't say i've really liked anything this year apart from the Deftones new album, not saying its best album of 2010, but its a lot better than most dross that is peddled about nowadays.

Wow, it really has been awful for music this year, unless I'm forgetting some monumental album I've been caning.

I'll go with BT - These Hopeful Machines, even though it doesn't really hit the nail on the head for me, I've not stopped listenning to it and it's the only respectable, complete body of work that seems to have come out this year.

I just don't understand how there were so many good albums in 2009 but NONE? from 2010.

I can't honestly think of a single thing this year!

That could mean one of two things, in my old age of 24, I have lost touch with popular music;

OR,

It was all so bad and instantly forgettable.

Ditto, except I'm 32 and I've never really given a stuff about 'popular music'.

My most played album this year has been from 1969...

the only album i have heard this year that i have actually listened to more than once is 'Lucky Me' by Killing The Dream, although not very well known i must admit, the record is hard to put down.

the others that spring to mind are Tron soundtrack by daft punk and Skreams album

2010 has been fairly meh in my opinion.

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards from a Young Man. A great return to pomp 'big' sound and catchy music and lyrics. Fabulous live too.

Ocean Colour Scene - Saturday. Another return to form after a disappointing previous album. Criminally underrated and a brilliant live performance.

Stornoway - Beachcomber's Windowsill. A nice find.

Ezio - Black Boots on Latin Feet. OK so this came out in 1995 but I only discovered them this year, despite them being a Cambridge band (D'oh!). Fantastic acoustic folk with a hint of latin and blues. Going to see them on Saturday.

And my favourite of this year:

Delays - Star Tiger Star Ariel. Not stopped listening to this since it came out in June. Another criminally underrated band and a great intimate gig.

My favourite was Foals' Total Life Forever.

Other highlights included:
65daysofstatic - We Were Exploding Anyway
Butterfly Explosion - Lost Trails
Holy **** - Latin
Kyte - Dead Waves
Noisia - Split The Atom
Oceansize - Self Preserved While The Bodies Float Up
Periphery - S/T
Shining - Blackjazz
