Best and Worst team of the season so far

LM: Van Der Vaart (Spurs)?? lol - the chap is always injured. Decent player don't get me wrong but not worthy of best LM.. This surely goes to Bale

Bale 5 goals, 3 assists, 1500 minutes, VDV half the time, 6 goals, 5 assists, no Bale has been ordinary in many games, most games infact. He's only scored in 3 separate games, Stoke, Blackburn and a clamitous Arsenal.

Sagna has been terrible, Nani has been mostly very good, though wasteful if he crossed more than he shot then he'd be doing better for the team, but then who on earth wants to cross one in for Rooney at the moment?

Most of the list is rubbish. Gomes has only had maybe 3-4 stupid games, like against Chelsea but to be fair Drogba has a silly powerful shot.

Arshavin has been an assist machine for us, but both he and Nasri do their best work very close to the box, Nasri's been useless in CM, and on the wing, he's only come alive in the box, might pick him as withdrawn striker.

Kos has been FAR worse than Squillaci, Kompany is a rock, as is Toure to be honest. Played 2 games more than Utd and conceded 2 less away and only one more at home, they've played two more away form home aswell while having a record of 5 wins, 2 draws/losses, Utd have 1 away win and 6 draws, largely through conceding. Toure/Kompany in a "new" team have had the most impressive defensive record of any other CB pair for 2 years.

Then you've got Illunga, a guy whose missed the best part of 18 months, rushed back with an injury and clearly no match fitness, very harsh as he's also come back into a team that simply has zero confidence.

For me it's more than just about data feeds and spreadsheet statistics. Bale is quite breath taking and entertaining to watch. I've not seen a player like him at the lane since Waddle and Gascoigne..

Is that your best balanced side or just collection of individuals?
Baines, Rafael, Kompany, and no defensive midfielder? Did you really need to ask that? :p

I was going to post a "pick your best team" thread the other day, after I saw these Guardian ones, as the league's so close at the moment I thought you might see a difference to when all the Man Utd fans picked Man Utd players, or all the Arsenal fans picked Arsenal players. I was even daring to think of some kind of "no picking players from your own team" rule, but as always, I was too lazy.

Shouldn't be any complaints about Holden, has attempted and also won the most tackles out of any player in the league, and is turning into a very rounded CM. Sagna has been Arsenal's best defender by a distance, which isn't saying loads, but he's had a good season thus far, seems to be playing as he was before his brother passed away, I saw that he was having big problems with it, hopefully he's overcome them :)

Holdens been great. But box to box, has there been a better CM than Parker?

I seriously don't understand why anyone would take VdV over Modric.

Spurs win games when VdV isn't playing. Spurs where inept when Modric was injured last season.

Yes - Modric. Best player in the league this season so far.

That said, Parker has been exceptional as well. Personally I'd have those two in the middle with Nasri and Nani on the wings and Van der Vaart off a striker.

Best:
GK: Foster (Birmingham)

RB: Foley (Wolves)
CB: Cahill (Bolton Wanderers)
CB: Kompany (Manchester City)
LB: Baines (Everton)

RM: Nani (Manchester United)
CM: Touré (Gnegneri Yaya) (Manchester City)
CM: N'Zogbia (Wigan Athletic)
LM: Downing (Aston Villa)

CF: Tévez (Manchester City)
CF: Carroll (Newcastle)

I'm basically going by stats for how they've performed in the games, not how well their team is doing.

Suprised to see no mention of Adam or Brunt, I guess maybe not starting 11 but would deffo have either on my bench as they've both had a pretty good season so far, certainly up there.
