All over the world...
Hi all,

Got a Dell XPS1210 laptop and after getting the hd replaced for the 10th time since ive had the bloody thing...ive done a clean install and so far so good.

Now i need to find a decent video/audio codec pack that plays all file types etc. Originally i was using the Klite one and it works fine but sometimes if im playing a video file or audio file...i notice my cpu useage shoots up to 100% and stays there...rendering the laptop unuseable...i have to open up task manager and start to kill processes...mainly svchosts seem to be the culprits...

Anyways anyone know of a decent codec package that has zero issues with Vista.

I swear if my hd goes again, ill be chucking the laptop outside my window and smashing it to bits:p.

ffdshouts tryouts is what you want. http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/ its a continuation of ffdshow, lots of new tricks - for example, E-AC3, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD and MLP decoding.

then grab gspot. for anything that doesnt play (you might find one or two of them) gspot will tell you what you need. the best way to tackle codecs is to download them as and when you need them.
