Easy question. Whats the best for the least?

I only need a PCI-E graphics card and i can build up my old 3.2 P4 640 & SLI mobo. Looking for something thats a good gaming card with a low cost

I would have said 8800GTS 320MB tbh.

If you can find one second hand its an even better Bang for the Buck.

If that costs too much, an X1950Pro would be even better since they can be picked up for £80 now.

7600gt for casual gaming. 2 for sli if you're feeling adventurous. or if you're not too bothered in spending a bit more, the 7950gt 256 mb version.

2x 7600GT would be a waste, one X1950Pro would be better.

yeah but some people just like an sli set up. i know someone who has 2x 6800's. for the price he cudve got a better card, but he just likes sayng 'LOL I GOT AN SLI SETUP LOLOL'

silly little boy really

Thats correct, but how long has he had 2x 6800's? SLi is a waste, especially on old cards.

id say maybe 1 year. he could have got a good 7 series for that price. and yeah to the OP, if you're not bothered about DX10 , get a 7950, or an x1950xt if you can stretch.

for DX10, mayb a 8800gts, but you may as well wait now till late this year in that sense for DX10 cards.

Depends on your budget really.

£50 will get you a 7300GT DDR3, £90 will get you an X1950Pro (or for a little more a second hand stronger X1900/X1950) or a 8600GTS but the performance on that tends to be a bit worse, and about £150 will get you an 8800GTS. All great cards at different budgets.

Cool, its been helpfull and i'm sure it will be to others too :D I have the 8800 GTS, very good card but i would say its more of a mid to high end card than a budget model.

Depends also on what games & res you plan to play at :)

Wouldn't a P4 bottleneck the 8800s?

65 quid gets you a 8600gt.

If you can find one at that price, i'd say go for it. For £75-£80 or more there are better options, but at £65, that's a lot of power for your money, especially as they overclock well, run cool and need only a small amount of power.

EDIT: I can't believe people are giving this card such a hard time. I got one about a month ago for £70 and i've been very impressed. I was expecting something on a par with a 6800ultra, but with overclocking (and they overclock very well) it's not too far behind a single 7800gtx.

8600 is faster than the 7600 tho isn't it?

yes its faster. my 7600gt overclocked to 615core ans 840ram got 6500 in 3dm05, stock 8600gt scores 9500.

massive difference in speed. 8600gt is a extremly underrated card.
