Best bang for the buck

Well, I'd have an Elise Sport160, in Scandal Green.

edit: For best performance though, it'd be a Caterham.

For 15k?

Performance wise it would have to be a used Exige or Elise. Possibly a Caterham.
A 10k BMW 540i with a 5k Dinan supercharger kit would be a good bet too.

Saying that. A lot of used performance metal can be had for that money. Take your pick from:

Audi D2 S8
BMW E39 M5
BMW E36 M3 EVO
Nissan Skyline GTS
Impreza P1
Evo 8
Lotus Esprit S3
Miley Honda NSX
Honda S2000
BMW 850csi
Holden HSV GTS
Jaguar XKR
TVR Griffith

It's quite amazing how much performance such a small sum of money can buy. This is why I laugh when people buy a brand new hot hatch and then try to tell me what good value for money it is.

It depends largely on how much of that money you can afford to lose. If you bought a cheaper car and spent loads on performance mods you would probably end up with a better car than spending the lot on something standard. However the modified car would lose you more money in the long run.

MG ZT 4.8 V8 tbh! :D

Gorgeous car but slow by the standards of some of those others on the list. I would put my money on something turbo'd like Evos and Scoobies, with room in the budget to increase performance to seat browning speeds.

They're all very expensive to run though. The sort of person who would buy a hot hatch wouldn't be able to afford to run any of them.

For me the choice would be a westfield or a bike.

A GSXR 1000 with a breathed on engine ohlins front and back carbon wheels exhaust and management. Wont beat that for 15k.
in fact struggle to beat a standard one at 8!
Assuming were talking cars It would be a caterfield thingy or an elise depending how practical/inpractical you want to be.

For a practica fast car I'd be looking at 10k's worth of M3 Evo with some very expensive coilovers, brakes and a little in the engine.

Good condition 300zx = 5000

Greddy TD0518G turbo's + headers + wastegates for sale by forum member currently = 2400

Z1 Engine Rebuild kit including Wiseco forged pistons and Eagle forged rods etc.. = 950

RPS Twinturbo Carbon-Carbon Clutch = 1550

Pair Z1 intercoolers = 470

Power Enterprise 850cc injector kit = 600

Rotora big brake kit = 1550

Tein flex coilover suspensions = 750

Whiteline ARB's = 150

Powerflex bushings = 200

Exhaust and intake = 1000

Total = 14620

Plus mapping, some gauges and miscelanious parts = slightly overbudget. That however is the best way to spend your 15k ;) Good for at least 600RWHP and with that suspension/brake kit should handle with the best of them.

oh yeah, and assuming you can put it together yourself :p
