Lo all,

Can any one recommend one of the BMW dealers in the South?
I'm looking for a new 'home' for the E60.

I'm interested in knowing if you've had really a good experience with a certain dealer and/or your horror stories.

I'm in the centre of Southampton but my girlfriend lives in South Sea so pretty much anywhere around there.

The closest four are Scotthall Hampshire, Snows Portsmouth, Woods in Salisbury and Woods of Bournemouth but I'd be prepared to travel a little further if it was worth it.

Cheers for any help!

Don't touch Woods with anyone else's barge pole let alone yours.

Why? BMW franchises are so heavily regulated and threated by BMW UK that if you make a complaint to BMW UK about anything i would pretty much guarantee that the dealer will be on the phone to you rather quickly to rectify any issues. Which Woods branch did you have issues with and what was cause?

Cheers for the info guys.

It's a 55 plate so unfortunately the 50% off labour offer isn't applicable. :(

Fox, other than the offer, how were they to deal with?

I'll bare in mind Jez's point about the complaints service if there's any trouble and I might skip Woods as they are the two furthest away from me anyway.

Overpriced, pompus, rubbish service stuck up staff, pretty much how all "execs" who live on the south coast act.

When I rang BMW UK, that was more like it. The service manager rang me back but it should never have got that far in the first place.

They don't listen, even subsequent visits have caused me to return to have the original issue rectified because they hadn't listened in the first place.

Rubbish valeting. I ask them not to bother.

Snows in Eastern Road treat me well when I take my car there, they run the 6+ discount scheme too which includes parts/fluids and labour discount.

There's also Mini, Audi, Seat and Mercedes dealers not 5 mins walk away too so you can go have a browse/test drive in other cars while you wait if you don't fancy the free cafe & wifi upstairs :p

Brilliant, thanks guys.

It looks like the two closest to me are getting the thumbs up. :) It might be easier for me to go to Snows as it's so close to my girlfriend's place.

At least that way I wouldn't be stranded while they do the work.

Snows doesn't have much to look at in Eastern road really, maybe the M Sport coupe on the showroom floor but everything else seemed to be 120D SE, 320D SE, 118D etc etc last time I was there hence why I strolled around to Merc who had a nicer range of cars to look at :D

Still, the people are nice and friendly, even called me up while I was at Merc to confirm completion/any faults found and what I wanted doing etc.

Even a ***** railway arch place does this. It never ceases to amaze me the stuff you find noteworthy. I mean seriously, shock as garage rings to ask if they can carry out work

It amazes me that it amazes you.

Scotthall never did when I went there in the past, in fact it was a return visit because they didn't fit a door seal correctly and left a comb + nail file in my cubby box (mentioned in an old thread ages ago). They waited until I got back in to the front desk then asked what I wanted to do.

So they were useless rather than Snows being amazing because they... told you they'd finished your car :p

The fact that you found yourself WALKING out of the showroom to a rival companies dealership whilst your car was being serviced doesnt really sound like its worth mentioning to support a claim that you find service levels there exceptional :D

Well I commented on the place being nice and friendly - pretty courteous no?

If you can highlight/circle exactly where I jizzed all over the fact that they phoned to confirm, how you seem to think I made it out to be, then i will tip my hat.

It's the same situation with you and the Merc thread where it was the first Auto I've driven and I made a simple comment on how I found it yet you made it out to be such a big deal.

Don't be such a douche sometimes!
