what is the best camera at the moment in the small handbag compact kind of genre? been looking at the canon ixus/sony dsc-n1 sort of models but i figure you guys would know if there was one which stands comfortably above the rest

price range 150-250 and as good a compromise between size, functionality & image quality as possible...

cheers in advance peeps :)

I just got a Canon Ixus 55 for £180 and it's a brilliant camera, operating speeds are super quick and everything i've producded so far is rather nice.

I'm a bit of a camera noob though, and this is the first half decent digital camera i've ever had, so can't really compare it to similar models, but there you go.

:)

Best picture quality among compact cameras comes from Fuji Finepix F10 and F11 without a doubt. They are also compact and within your price range. The only bad thing about them is that they do not have a view finder so you have to use the screen to compose pictures.

have the ixus 55 and am fairly satisfied with it
the ixus 60 and 65 have larger screens which is nice
the other ones that float my boat are the sony T series
or a casio exlim

is the ixus definately a better camera than such as the sony dcs-n1 and the like? (its just you've all mentioned the ixus but the one that really caught my eye - only aesthetically mind! - was the sony)

i have never owned a cybershot so wouldn't really know...
