Overclocking core2duo style?!?! I have read many threads and have read my custom PC's but still cant choose what to buy. Is the P5B actually the best OC mobo for conroe??

I love OVERCLOCKING AS MUCH AS I DO GAMING, I need help building something nice and tweakable. I basically am wondering what is the best combo of CPU, RAM AND MOBO out there for round about £570. If possible the parts from overclockers, read the forum rules (FAQ)

I saw this on overclockers is this as good as it gets....

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) (MY-108-CS)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)

Price: £479.99 (£563.99 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or can anyone recommend better?? If possible it should be a crossfire board but if there is a truly kick ass none-crossfire board then please feel free to specify. ;)

ANYHELP APPRECIATED!!! :( ps is the DFI lanparty Expert the best overcloking motherboard ever and should I expect a lot worse motherboards with core2duo??? Just wondering so I am not disapointed. :p

And what is the best air cooler for intel is it the Arctic Freezer Pro like with AMD??

You will be disappointed with any board compared to the options the expert offers. If you want x-fire then the P5wdh is probably the best in your price range although the P5b dlx tends to provide better overclocking results due to a higher FSB limitation, it dosn't however support x-fire.

I have the exact same setup as the one you posted and currently get 3.7gig with 1.575vcore stable. Perhaps the only thing I would have change would be the memory, G.Skill HZ seems to be the overclockers choice atm, my corsair is doing ok (900 mhz max) with 4-4-4-8 timings at stock volts (2.1) but I am struggling to get them any higher without slackening the timings.

hmmm even if core2duo and AMD were clock for clock 3.7ghz sounds awesome for this money, I guess that equilivent to a 4ghz AMD64!!! I mean people would have pay hundreds for that alone!!! So g.skill hz will have a look. cheers bud :D

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 £174.99

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £194.99

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £91.99

Subtotal £461.97
VAT £80.85
Total £542.82

Do you think I will be able to do some nice overclocks with this combo or is a better mobo in order to get to 3.7ish???

I think you'd get some great clocks with that setup. I wish I could afford to buy just that. The best coolers are the Ninja and the Aero Flower. The AS Freezer 7 Pro is also very good and is quite inexpensive.

EDIT: Ever plan on fixing that signature?

Wait untill next months issue of CPC (custom pc.) it will have a Core2Duo best mobo lab test on it just like the DDR2Ram this month. Im gonna wait before buying so i can get the best bang for the buck, my opinion wait untill issue 039 (december edition, actualy out in november) if not go for The AsusP5B is it? i cant remember im in school at the moment, listening to my boring tutor.
