thinking a yz or cr 125 for this but it needs to be roadlegal for me to get to the off road bits.

with this in mind which is vbest?

can you still get daytime mots which means i could get an offroader and stick a number plate on it just to get there and back in daylight?

Making either of those road legal with be a LOT of work, and also will make them pretty useless for proper motocross. If you're looking for a bike you can take offroad (not motocross tracks) and still use on the road then you're probably better off looking for a normal road legal enduro bike.

Last crosser I rode was an RM250 in about 1997 and it was old and knackered then so god knows what year it was.

I guess things may have moved on a little since then!?

You need a stop light, horn, registration plate for daylight MOT. One or two other things I've now forgotten but not much, I had a CRF450 on the road as a supermoto & converting it was a piece of **** really.

Pick a colour.

Why not just buy a WRF or EXC or similar? You can get enduro bikes that are already road legal, they're not a lot different to MX bikes. Heavier flywheel, slightly higher gearing, smaller back wheel for more stability at speed, road gubbins, and... that's pretty much it.
