Best FPS games of the last 3 years?

Fallout 3 IMO although some might argue it's not a FPS.

In terms of more traditional FPS, I thought Medal of Honor and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were very good SP experiences.

I think the original Modern Warfare was the last fps I really got into, Team Fortress 2 and the Armed Assault games took a fair bit of my time as well.

Not much around that does anything for me at the moment.
I actually really like what Ive played of Black Ops mp but technical
issues mean its too much of a pita to bother wih at the moment.

Single-player, the Fallout games are excellent, and the VATS combat system adds a dimension to the FPS aspect.

Multiplayer, BC2 is a love/hate thing I think. To me, it's like listening to U2 - I can see what makes it good, and understand why so many people like it, but I have decided that it's cack. Too much like hard work, not enough fun.

So I'd say give MW2 or Black Ops a go.

ArmA 2 + COD 4

+1 for Arma2 with the British Forces and (recent) PMC (aka Mercenary) DLCs, plus the Operation Arrowhead Takistan (Afghanistan looky-likey map). Endless user made maps like Fallujah are massive and you can spend hours just touring around. Still waiting for the caravan mod . . .

The Combat Cardigan

Stalker titles and Fallout 3 / New Vegas off the top of my head, though both have rpg elements, especially the Fallout games. That's probably why I like them so much.

Oh, Farcry 2...but modded (apparently). The mods for this one I must try out for myself. If you haven't played the single player then be warned, it isn't the most popular of triple A title releases.

I put a fair bit of time into Cod4, but I have to say, BC2 has just swallowed hours and hours more! I absolutely love this game. Purely on the multiplayer though! I still haven't even bothered finishing the SP.
