best free tools to compile to get rid of virus's/spyware?

Something I've not looked into for a while as I'm not too click happy but get people asking me if I can rid their machines off this nasty stuff.. might aswell take advantage and earn a few quid!

Lavasoft AdAware (not this crap 2007 edition)
Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
HijackThis
AVG
Zonealarm

Were my usual simple apps of choice to keep most things in line... whats the recommendation a good year or so on since I last bothered seeing whats best? Seeing as malware and people getting click happy online is forever increasing

Hijack This
Spybot Search and Destroy
Lavasoft Ad Aware
bit of googling (common worms often have dedicated free removal tools on various AV providers websites)
+free anti virus (either Avira or AVG) usually gets rid of it

i dont think the paid up stuff much better. we supply mcaffe enterprise 8.5 at work and i usually prefer to use spybot + adaware on clients PCs as theres so much trivial but annoying stuff it doesnt pick up. eg pop up banners etc..

I tried AVG Anti-spyware free edition yesterday and it discovered a Trojan and piece of adware that Spybot S&D missed.

Post the log file on the main front page, and it takes you to a break down of whats good and bad, by clicking the comments icon to the left of each entry. Plus colour coded for easy notice.

After you do a scan save a copy of the log file then cut and paste it at www.hijackthis.de and it should tell you whats nasty.

I'd recommend Avast, recently i've found out it can remove viruses which AVG just can't touch.
