I was randomly looking at a planetside review, and it gave me an idea for a game that I think would be soo cool.

Its a massive morpgy thingy fps game set in like iraq war time. you have to pay every month as the world is constantly changing. And the world would be veerrry big with a "resource" dotted all around. Each resource firstly has bots defending them and depending on how big the resource amount is, the more bots are defending it and the harder it is to kill them. Also, there is buildings and vehicle depots etc dotted around.

You start off in a maasssivee lobby thingy and choose a man and change the look of him and his traits etc. You then choose a squad of at least 3 or 4 people and you ask to be transported around the world. Then you can either expand your squad by talking to other people (if you have set yourself to a certain setting ie "neutral" and when your talking on a mic, if your within 5 metres in the game world to another person you meet, you can hear them. when you have a big squad you can become a full army with headquarters etc (which could be made if you have the resource etc. If you have taken over the resource, depending on how valuable it is, you get a steady income, as long as you are holding it.

And say if you have 20 people, you could raid a vehicle depot or something and nab vehicles and go on an attack to gain a resource. Also, you could make deals etc with other factions and speak to them over microphone but to carry them out , you have to travel to there headquarters which would make it cool as you would have to get a convoy going of vehicles and armour up etc and travel through other factions areas. It would be realistic like machine guns wouldnt destroy a armoured car and that.

Eventually as the world gets more populated, bigger factions would appear and people would be able to join the bigger factions straight away as long as they are accepted. There would be ranks and when you become say a corporal or soemthing you can control a few privates. The main guy can decide on say how much resource each man will get, and each lower ranked person, depending on how much resource they get could upgrade there weapons or vehicles..

if you cheat or play unfairly a punishment will happen.. dnno what.

dnno why i posted this, maybe its because im tired and im just dreaming lol but still, sounds good if you can vision it. Do you think a game would come out like that. Obviously it has flaws but they could be fixed and thats just a random idea.. you never know, maybe a game developer will read this post and think "godammm, thats a good idea"..
...
.....

im off to bed, bye zzZZz

first of all nice idea, though a basic concept of a game, secondly im a bit concerned about the taking or resources. if you ha a big group of ppl, woulnt they take overy resource in the game? also placing it around the things in real life would be a big no no,a lot of ppl will complain about it (computer violence etc). if it was placed like (in the future) or (in a fictional planet) then it should stop the complaining a bit.
the microphone idea is great coz then you can hear other pll and get up to the second activity instead of writing, but would this game require a mic to play?

maby some other ideas are good?

My idea would be a multiplayer coop type where you have to help each other move stuff and stack stuff to able to go forward in the level , it would have no enemys or things to kill it would purely be about team work and problem solving on how to get from a to b , thats the sort of game i would like to see on my moniter

Defending a resource depends on how many people are defending/attacking. Getting people all online at the same time is the problem. "Vunerability times" should solve this problem; being only for resources already occupied.

I read the first few paragraphs but didn't take to your idea

The best Massive multiplayer game would simply be Pokemon or Dragonball Z

or that new Firefly one they are talking about

I always had an idea for a MMOFPSG where you put up servers in every country where the game is released and you play as that country against our whole solar system being taken over by ET's. So, we as British could go defend Mars while the Russians invade the Northern Parts of Jupiter and the Frogs wage heavy war on Mercury.

Something along those lines anyway

I think a game developer is more likely to read it and think "goddamn, just imagine the complexity of the code tree for something like that"! :p

My idea would be for a (truly) MMO military simulation based on WWII with air, sea and land forces fighting 24/7 and with high commands being player controlled. It would be played out on a single server over a huge map beginning with Europe in 1939. Later on other theatres would be added starting with North Africa.

There would be a strategic element where the HC's control the research, development and production of equipment. The opposing side would then be able to hamper this RDP by bombing the enemies facilities.

All equipment would be historically accurate and there would be a full ballistics and damage system. An in-built squad system would help organise the players into brigades and regiments although you could lone wolf if you wanted to. An RPG element would also be nice where you could advance your persona in rank individually in all the various branches of the Axis and Allied forces.

Wait a minute! That game already exists...it's Battleground Europe: WWII Online :)

i dont think a world war best mmporg would be any good or attract that many players unless it was AMAZING

The future is in a game where you can fly around in gorgeous looking space then literally fly towards a planet and instead of crashing into it... actually go into the atmosphere and land on the planet... then walk around

I know that would be crazy to try and render though

Mmmmmm, Elite-Online has a certain ring to it....

well, you've hit the nail on the head for 99% of MMORPG, is there not true fps. I don't wont to click a button to shoot, or swing a sword. I want to control my movement and firing myself. Can't wait till 2007 there's a couple of true fps coming out. Will have the same grinding, trade ect but you'll do the aiming and firing..

That is my biggest bug bear at the moment and why I get bored of every MMORPG I've played.

Well WWII Online is amazing :p and has attracted enough players to be in business for about 4 years now. It is an acquired taste though as it's a full on SIM and has a very steep learning curve.

Once again I must talk up WWII Online. ;) You have to bring up your weapon to the aiming position and look through the sights...being a SIM there is no crosshair. Also when you fire you release a projectile. The damage that projectile does depends on the angle it strikes and the velocity when it reaches it's target, and of course what it strikes. There are no health meters.

How come I Never hear of games like this till there so old..

Why is it old? It is constantly updated....patch 1.25 is due any day now. Of course the graphics will always lag behind the likes of BF1942 because of the huge scale and scope of the game. They're not that bad though considering, although you need a pretty good rig to turn everything on.

Is there a free trial?

Seems to be a 14 day trial here... http://www.wwiionline.com/scripts/wwiionline/be_info.jsp

At Arma Interactive.... the more cities and towns each armies holds on garrisons and patrols means that that army can buy more equipment to wage war. It'll be cool.

Fight guerrilla style and hold small towns. Or roll into cities in armour. Your choice. (well, the general's choices.) still being worked out for the beta tour, but it should be every cool.

Even if they think it's a good idea, they won't make it. Developers don't ever take random people's ideas for games.
