Looks like the link has gone from the original post, oh well I am just glad the Commodore 64 got some love in this thread and I wasn't the only one who remembered the fantastic soundtracks :)

Good call there. Excellent soundtrack, as was the developer's first game(Sequence -> later renamed to Before the Echo).

I haven't searched the whole thread so somebody might have mentioned it already, but FTL has a really stellar soundtrack. It's very MIDI-like, but it suits the game so well and is still so well written that I often listen to it outside the game when I'm in the mood:
