Best Guitar Hero/Rockband game

I prefer rock band 2 with imported songs from 1, and if you include the dlc I have bought I have 150 songs to choose from and I havn't even unlocked all the songs on the disk yet, plus new DLC is released every week and is pretty cheap

Guitar hero world tour is ok but I could only find around 10-15 songs that I liked, and they only release DLC very rarely.

Pretty much summed it up for me.

I have had all the games (GH1>GH2>RB>GH3>GH:WT>RB2) and I'm currently using the drums and mic from GH:WT whilst playing RB2 and I find its the best mix. The upgraded graphics and gameplay on RB2 is the best of the lot and transferring all the songs from RB1 was so easy I now have a huge collection of songs to play.

Not really, sure how the gameplay is counts a great deal. But if there is no songs on a tracklist you like whats the point in buying it

The tracklist can have a huge impact on if someone buys it or not

Well I can't even tell you how many days I've racked up on Rockband. I dread to think. Yet I dislike just about every band on the discs.

Muse, Nirvana, REM, Mettalica ACDC etc etc wouldn't go near them prior to playing Rockband. It's not my kind of music at all.

The game plays so well, it feels so right it's made me get into tracks I would normally not touch. GH3 did to some extent as well.

GHWT takes a very good tracklist and leaves you feeling empty playing it. You can play a song you dont like thats on both games and feel the difference. One sends you to sleep the other plays well enough for you to not mind your playing a song you don't like.

There are vey few bad games I won't see out to the end to whup the easy achieves from. I only had one tier left on the world tour to go. I couldn't stomach it any longer.

Thats all from a guitar point of view, 99% of my play is with guitar.

Get RB2, the tour mode on it is epic and the amount of downloadable songs is crazy! I have GH:WT as well and I really like the setlist, and the way the songs play, but if you want a game that has longevity and variety, RB2 is definitely the better choice. I'd still recommend you get them both though.

Edit: When I bought GH:WT I got the guitar and game package and they gave me a free wired bass guitar (basically the explorer from GH2). I thought that offer was only for the whole band package? It even said that on the bass box, don't know if I just got lucky maybe?

I think the key is to just nab a guitar then buy the solus editions of all the others. Rock band 1 for example can be had for as little as £24 if you rinse some quidco benefits.

Thats the weekend sorted.

GHWT w/ Guitar and RB2.

Then I will have GH3, GHWT, RB2 and two guitars that work across the entire range!

Great times!

Hardware wise has anyone here tried both complete packs?

Just wondered what people opinions where. I have the GHWT pack.

Is the RB2 hardware pack out yet? I have played on the RB1 complete pack and I like the drums and the microphone but I really don't like the guitar. Main bit I don't like about it is how the strum bar doesn't make any sound so it is sometimes hard to tell if I have actually strummed for a note. Also, it is wired and this can be a real pain. I play RB2 with the GH:WT guitar as I think it is the best of all the guitars. The Les Paul used to be my favourite but the fret buttons are a bit too widely spaced out compared to the new GH:WT guitar.

i like them all ,i have no preference TBH, all have their flaws and their good points, for every one person who favours RB2/1 over GHWT there be someone who prefers GHWT over RB1/2. Personally i think a lot of people side with RB as that was the 1st to produce drums so automatically think its the no1 to choose along with the option to have more professional equipment

GH series > RB series simply for Harmonix's stance on European launches and the 360-PS3.

To say they've acted like retards is an understatement.

I side with RB because I think it is the better game. As people have said although the GHWT track list has some good names and songs on there, they aren't necessarily that fun to play.

If you can go with what people have said and try and buy them all as solus edition thens you can't really go wrong. They are all excellent fun, especially when you play with friends.

Aye, i've been looking into that today as i was wondering why i couldn't obtain RB2 for the PS3. I can't believe that RB1 was released in the US for the PS3 a couple of months before the 360, but in turn we had to wait several months AFTER the 360 release to get it on the PS3 here.

Jokes on them though, region free games = win

Rock Band 2 is the definitive music game IMO.

RB 2 with loads of DLC, plus the RB1 tracks and the ac/dc track pack, what more could i need?
