I've decided to re-new my car, and can afford £7.5k ( and an R32 is a bit pricey while saving for a house :D ).

So what is a good hatchback for the price ? must be sporty, come in black or silver ;)

Exactly what he said, just a matter of preference really. Didn't realise Civic Type R's were going so cheap now!

That ones a pre-facelift with no aircon etc. I'd be tempted with a Clio tbh.

Can squeeze in a 182 in that budget, or a pre facelift Civic Type R as above. Make sure you get one with aircon though.

I have pretty much the same budget, and Im going with the 182, although if I could afford a facelifted CTR I would probably take it tbh.

afaik, 10 more ponies and a some subtle exterior differences.

Cheers, was looking at the 172 and the 182 looks better.....yet I couldnt work out why.

I'm seriously confused now ;) ...way too many choice motors.

I noticed that there is loads to choose from for about £7500. There is also a Seat Ibiza Cupra FR which could be had for around about that I think too :)

Personally I love the new shape of the Ibiza and especially the Leon but not fond of the old :o Sadly couldn't get a new shape Leon for that kind of money :(

For something more economical, how about a Golf GT TDi 150?

BeatMaster :D

For the money you could get a lower milage 172, or a slightly higher 182 (got mine for £7500) As said, the only differences are the exhaust system (so no spare wheel) and the inclusion of xenons as standard.

182's also had cup pack options which provided slightly lowered suspension + anthracite wheels, and the cup spoiler and splitter.

Not sure if 172's had climate control, but 182's do.

At the moment (commute to work) which is a mix of a bit of 'A' road and some small traffic jams in town I achieve 37mpg.

Shirley there has to be something seriously wrong with that for the price its listed? Nearest is £1500 more and double the mileage.

I've read through the articles, they are a little low, but its probably down to the age of the car...
