Best headset setup?

I recently got rid of my old Razer Barracude 5.1 headset plugged into my Creative X-Fi Extreme and replaced it with the Logitech G35 (USB) and I've been blown away at the improvement in sound quality both in terms of clarity and positional sounds.

It's also quite a bit more comfortable and the retractable mic with the built-in mute button is quite handy.

For gaming, I'd recommend that. However, for music, that's a different matter. You really want to go for a decent set of headphones, I've a set of Sennheiser H380's that I sue for music when I want to listen to whatever I want without annoying others :)

I think that perhaps the reason the G35's are such an improvement over the Barracuda's is because you've gone from a "real" 5.1 headset, to an "emulated 5.1" headset that uses Dolby Headphone (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/internet-headsets-phones/devices/5095).

If you were to change your sound card to one that supports Dolby Headphone natively and pair it with some good quality stereo headphones, I think you'd be equally blown away. :)
