The last time I bought a LCD screen it had ghosting on fast games like quake which I play quite a bit, so I ended up selling and getting a good CRT.

Have things swayed yet? are LCD's better, do they still have that ghosting effect when stuff moves fast on the screen?

And if so, whats the best flat screen to buy for gaming?

I would be happy with 19".

Thanks for any info on this!

I bought a HannsG HW191D, cheap and cheerful but I can't see how spending twice the price would make me a better games player, no deal pixels as well. Great monitor for the price.

Difficult to give you a meaningful answer without knowing the response time of your previous screen (or the model number). If it was 8 ms, then there probably hasn't been a huge step forward since then. If it was 25 ms, then yes TFTs are in a different league for responsiveness now.

Got the Dell 2007WFP myself, and it's far quicker than any TFT I've owned previously, but there is still a bit of 'motion blur' type effect on fast moving objects, although I wouldn't describe it as 'ghosting' anymore since it's not leaving trails or visible ghost images.

If you're asking if TFT are now as quick as CRTs then no and they probably never will be.

Got the BenQ today, and it's the nuts!

It's not meant to be sold in UK/Europe I think, because the UK supplier I got it from had a 110V plug but supplied the adaptor.

Monitor looks great and is wall mountable, d-sub/dvi/hdmi connections and different game modes all for £150.

The game mode function is actually really useful, changes between standard -desktop, action - fps games, racing - racing games. The brightness and gamma changes accordingly.

Allows me to see much more in 16:10.

Some people may argue it's too small, but i'm like 50cm away from it because I mainly game.

FPS is no different either:

1280*1024 = 1.3MP
1440*900 = 1.3MP

Thumbs up here

I think you should stick with your CRT... or maybe upgrade to a better CRT

LCD really isnt upto gaming... the difference is amazing.

I'm about to swap my 22" Samsung LCD for...

Viewsonic G90FB 19 inch

and still have £120 left over to blow here at overclockers
