Best monitor for gaming?

The supplied DVI to HDMI should work absolutely fine in the DVI-I port of your GPU. I don't really care what 'it' says I am aware that current UK and most European import stock is supplied with said cable. I suppose some places may receive stock from places in Europe that don't supply this but it's still fairly trivial given the price of the cable. The whole package used to cost £260 and now it's under £200. Even if it wasn't then it would cost a very small sum of money to buy the appropriate cable.

absolutely not

heck most people won't see the difference between VGA and DVI or HDMI, I barely can and I have far above average eyesight ( as in being able to see the pixels on the iPhone 4 from about 20 inches away )

also you can get mini hdmi to hdmi or DVI adaptors for less than a fiver, which again will make sweet FA difference to quality

The video signal is so very similar between DVI and HDMI that it will not degrade quality at all. That is why Samsung supplies a converter cable and why they don't find including a DVI input essential. Also the BX2450 is a fine example of a monitor that can handle analog signals very well indeed. So well that even the trained eye wouldn't spot any degredation in image quality using VGA over HDMI. Really the HDMI is becoming a preferred choice on such monitors due to the large range of other devices that use this connection.

Exactly. And the thing is - the BX2450 comes with a DVI to HDMI cable. Talk about making a fuss out of nothing. And agreed that P2450H is a nice offer at the price. The only reason it didn't make the top 10 monitors of 2010 list is because it was only re-released in 2010. But that fact alone should tell you something about how sought-after it is.

cheers man. would be really interesting to compare notes actually, especially as we have very similar spec'd pc's! again sorry for all the questions, but did you use the touch buttons to adjust display or the magictune software? the touch buttons do seem a little fiddly as i had heard. don't want to hijack this guys thread anymore and his discussion of 'noob' monitors

so if you fancy posting them in a new thread or just pm'ing me that would be much appreciated :)

i've just created another thread mate, thought it would be useful for people

hello i now got the Samsung SyncMaster BX2450 and it looks nice but theres a power thing that comes with it, it looks like a power adapter that you use with a laptop what is this? and is it needed?

No... your graphics card should have came with said cable. Mini HDMI out of your card into the big HDMI on the monitor.

My mate got a 460 and it came with a cable and both my 480s came with a cable. You should double check your cards box.

That aside, the BX2450 looks great, think I will get one :D

nope i have a gigabyte gtx 460 i only had an adapter with it mini hdm adapter not a cable ;)

what do you mean?

The monitor will come with a AC Power adaptor- this is how you power up the monitor. It's same kind of thing you use to power up laptops.

By designing it like this samsung don't need to fit a bulky power supply in the BX2450, so the physical size/bulk of the monitor unit is reduced.

hm why do u need it cus ive never used it before ive only used the cable

You need it because it is the only way to power the monitor up.

There is no kettle plug connection (like some other monitors) as there is no internal power supply. It has been designed like this for the reasons I mentioned earlier.
