Hi

New to the forum, so hopefully the question I'm asking is in the right place.

My daughter is looking for a 4K monitor to connect to her MacBook Pro that she can take with her to Uni, to use for video editing and to watch movies.

Are any of the following worth buying:

  1. Samsung LU32J590UQUXEN 32-Inch 4K Ultra
  2. ASUS VP28UQG, 28 Inch 4K
  3. LG 32UK550-B 4K Ultra
  4. BenQ EW3270U 32 Inch 4K HDR
  5. Acer ET322QK 31.5" 4K UHD
  6. SAMSUNG LU28E590DS 4K Ultra
I know these are not 4K, but wondered anyway
  1. AOC Q3279VWFD8 31.5"
  2. LG 29WK600 29-Inch Ultrawide
Thanks

If gaming isn't a requirement, and it sounds like it isn't, then go 4K for sure. Far more screen real estate, and that's particularly valuable for video editing. 32" is optimal, providing enough desk space, and I'd definitely go for the BenQ EW3270U here as it's a great all rounder with a good feature set, and also gets solid reviews. Even if that monitor wasn't on your list, it would be my choice for 32" 4K under £400.

You've chosen mostly VA panels here, which is fine... not quite as colour accurate as IPS, but you'd need to spend quite a bit to get a 32" 4K IPS monitor... and VA is going to be better for watching movies on due to it having more vibrancy and darker blacks. Plus that BenQ is actually pretty good for colour accuracy anyway. :)
