I have about £80 to spend on a new motherboard as my epox 8RDA+ is a bit (read a lot) old!

Basically I would like an Asus as they seem to be pretty good at the moment. I've read up on the Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 but really, I dont think its worth it just for the SLi which I would never use (and its quite expensive). So, what is there :)

I am in the same boat mate - don't and will probably never use SLI personally. And like yourself looking at an ASUS board.

I think I will personally go for an A8N-E for £68, not SLI but is nForce 4 - however I don't think it has firewire.

Looks very nice though!

yeah the firewire is quite important to me :) What about the A8N-E SE something or other, its about £82. I read the stuff about it on the Asus website but theres no mention of the box containting sata connecters and theres no reviews of the board!

Asus website but theres no mention of the box containting sata connecters

Every board I have owned that has sata (incl the early ASUS A7N8X deluxe socket A board) has come with sata cables.

The manual will tell you "what in the box" if you download it.

Accessories

SLI connector
1 x 1-port IEEE1394 module
1 x SLI retention bracket
2 x 2-port SATA power cable
1 x 2-port USB2.0 / Game module
1 x 2-port USB2.0 module
1 x COM Port module
1 x UltraDMA 133/100/66 cable
1 x IDE cable
1 x FDD cable
1 x I/O Shield
User's manual

Thats what the website says for included stuff. Couldn't find anything in the manual but every other board says it includes cables....hmm

if you're talking about the A8N-E it comes with SATA cavles, and IDE cables, but it has no onboard firewire, the higher model version will do though
