Because my mouse 1 button is failing me, I need a replacement.

Now the ony I got now cost £23? So I would like to pay around that amount.

I would also like a mousepad that would work well with said mouse also.

The mat I have now is one of those hard ones, not a soft one, I'm not sure if they work better with certain mice, mine is an optical Razer mouse.

Thank you.

I'm looking at a Logitech MX518, if thats any good?

I prefer the pickup of laser over the older optical tech, so whilst the MX518 was a superb mouse, it's replacement the G500 is IMO better. Same shape, better response :)

MX518 is a great peice of kit and bang on budget
The G500 is a nice mouse (I tried one when I was looking myself just recently) but its price is a little over the OP's request

Welcome to the forums :o

This guy speaks truth. Although lots of gamers still prefer the optical variant (MX518) I would personally say that the G5 / G500 is better as it's laser.

Best budget mouse will always be the MS Intell though, that thing is amazing and never breaks!

If all else fails, get the G9 :D

Loved my old Intellimouse Explorer, still going strong to this day on my spare machine :D

Eurgh :p

The scroll wheel toggle is what sells it imo! and it's a good alternative to the G5 / MX518 :p (If you don't look at the cost)

Having said that, I currently use the G5 as I find it more suitable and comfortable - but I have used practically the same mouse for 3/4 years.. G7 and now the G5.

The G5 (both versions) are almost identical in shape but just a bit more to buy. I have one, and am considering getting another to replace my Kone.

I never see any coments on mouse threads of trackball mice. I was considering one as I get RSI in my neck.

I really wanted the Microsoft model with the thumb ball and extra buttons, but it seems knowhere has it now.

I'd be very interested in any experience of trackballs:confused:

A word of warning, choose carefully. I bought the Gigabyte GM-8000 from Overclockers about 6 weeks ago, (they are not stocking them now), and after about 3 weeks use, the right mouse button became "sticky".
It slowly got worse, so when the right mouse button was held down for a little while, like picking something up in a game etc. it stayed down for a second or so, which made it useless for gaming.
I took it back, but was told they could not reproduce the fault! so would not replace or refund, end of story.
I went back to the MX518 I bought from Overclockers over a year ago, sorry I bothered buying a new one.
Needless to say I have written a complaint via email to Overclockers which as yet has not been replied to, (4 days ago).
It cost me £8 in petrol to take it back, thinking I would have no problem, the mouse cost £30, so though I could send it back to Gigabyte, they also may say it is OK, when it is certainly no good for gaming, but possibly more money down the drain in postage. I gave it to my wife to use on her PC as it will work in Windows just using it as an ordinary mouse.
Needless to say I will think more carefully where I buy my PC goods in future!

1) How would "choosing carefully" help with receiving a duff mouse (assuming it is actually duff). This could happen from ANY shop.

2) A whole 4 days ago? Including the new year? OMG, someone call the response police. How did you send this "complaint"? email? mail? webnote?

3) £8 in fuel? What were you driving, a Sherman tank? It's not that far, stop being so melodramatic.

4) If your wife can use it in windows without it driving her up the wall, perhaps there is nothing wrong with it at all.

What sort of response is this? Is this what you call customer service?

The complaint was verbal, and covered with a webmail the following day after re checking to make sure the button still stuck. No, I do not drive a sherman tank, they are measured in gallons to the mile. I waited 40 minutes after being told it would just take a few, so decided to visit my son about 8 miles away and call back, a total distance of 51 miles, and at 37 to the gallon, you work it out. (I wish I had not bothered).

After 38 years in computers, I do understand the term "not fit for purpose", (as well as what "after sales service" should mean), but would not bother using it, simply buy elswhere, especially after seeing your response.
