Politics is something I've recently gotten in to and I'm finding it all very interesting. I currently read most political news online from various mainstream media websites but I'd also like to gets news in paper form.

I don't really know anything about the mainstream newspapers though (their is a lot of them to) and I'm wondering which is the best non-biased mainstream newspaper to go for?

Which ones do you guys tend to read?

Cheers

I was once taught in history that there's no such thing as an unbiased source, everyone is biased in one way or another (obvious or not).

That's not to say you can't find decent political reporting, if it was me I'd probably go for the Economist (although it's only a weekly publication).

BBC news is probably the most unbiased source of news in the world. Reuters is also good. Keep in mind that news reporting is one thing, opinion pieces, quite another.

EDIT: Oh, I've just noticed you wanted news in paper form. I've stopped reading papers regularly 15 years ago, I've no idea what's decent nowadays.

BBC News

BBC is pretty good - on the telly I go for Euronews for relatively unbiased viewqs.

Newspapers are usually fairly skewed in Britain so I stick to the FT to the extent I actually read anything in printed paper form these days.

The times if I do read a paper which is not often. Although a 'quality' they have some very even editorials and columnists.

I prefer the lack of hyperbole, celeb's, boob's and single paragraph articles.

Like others have said an unbiased newspaper is a magical, mythical beast.

With the decline of print media newspapers have tried too hard to 'sell' themselves resulting in a horrible shouty and biased industry.

I get my news from either usually the internet, or sometimes the TV. The only paper I will read is the metro.

I read news.google and just read through the various sources, most of the time the newspapers have all the same articles anyway. I even once spotted the same spelling mistake in the same article across multiple newspapers, proving once and for all that they just copy and paste the news from the news wires.

The wires are the source for the news, associated press, reuters etc.

What i do is use website like blacklistednews.com. Which is a what is called a blog roll or a news aggregator. news.google is a type of news aggregator. The thing with blacklisted news is that you also get articles written by non mainstream media on current topics and some mainstream articles are also posted. Good thing about blacklistednews is that i find out about international news and other types of news on economics and other topics that are not in the front pages of the mainstream media and often not even mentioned. Its good to find out news on corruption in the state and things like that, that the newspapers are too scared to report on.

I read articles on the Daily Mail, Independent, Telegraph, bbc and guardian. the bbc and guardian i only read to hear what new bias is being said. Telegraph i think is probably the best newspaper in terms of journalism and bias.

Look at some of the recent news on blacklisted news that is not realy in the mainstream media, well it may get a mention on page 15 in tiny block or something like that. The mainstream media tends to run with the same stories across all the newspapers.

Examples of why the mainstream media is never going to be able to compete with alternative news.

Compared to mainstream media, where 39 newspapers all ran with a story about a dog. Not saying that one story is more important from another, i am just making the point that there is not much difference between the mainstream media organisations, as you can see in the above link, they all have similar text and all ran with exactly the same story.

Sometimes if you go to google news you can see 1600 news articles with exactly the same publish date (more or less) and often exactly the same text.

I read a variety, but tend to ignore articles from the home nation in question & take everything with a pinch of salt. Usually just looking to see if the story is logically consistent & the motives believable is usually a good B'S filter.
