best non gaming laptop for £400ish

my brothers looking to buy a laptop and hes tighter than 2 coats of paint....what laptop would you suggest for £400 region....it would be used for surfing, watching movies ect ect......your suggestions would be most welcome

I just picked up a MSI 620 and its really nice. I cant name any sites but you can pick one up just £8 over £400 with Windows 7 64bit and 2Gb of ram, i3 350, 250Gb disk.

I actually got the MSI 620 without the operating system (Only £379) and I got 3Gb of ram instead, 320Gb harddisk and an i3-370m chip. Seems nice so far, got it running ubuntu and Windows 7 dual boot. Liking the chiclet keyboard.

£379 was the most I could afford and the only other laptops I could find with an i3 at this price range was the Samsung E452-JA01UKor the Lenovo G560 both which look a nice deal. I just liked the look of the MSI 620 and im fan of the chiclet keyboards.

he was round today and we had a look at that laptop...the msi 620....very nice for the money.....he ended up buying it and i talked him in to the model with the i5 in it for £455 delivered . thanks for your help bud much appreciated

Glad you found what your after. Liking mine lots so far, just make sure you get the warranty form sent off, as it needs to be done in 7 days.

How you finding it so far? Mine seems very fast and this is only the i3 270 model.

i will tell him...he gets it today so will let you know
