So i'm due an upgrade from my network and was wondering what phone to get. I currently have an N95 8GB and have no idea about any of the new phones. Any advice please?

Hi mate,

Suggest you read up on the iphone 3GS, Nokia N900, the HTC HD2, Motorola Droid and a few others that have large threads on here. It very much depends on what you do with it.

Hope that gives you a start

Oh sorry.

I'd like to use it for music, watching videos and films, browsing the internet and using msn. So preferably with a large screen. Was looking at the N97, any good?

I like my N97.

But the n900 seems good, not sure about the lack of angle between the keyboard/screen though.

Can you afford the iPhone?
If so, why not?
I would have if I could afford it.

iPhone all the way. If you factor in the inclusive data, calls and text bundle (with o2 anywhow) it isn't that much more expensive than an "ordinary" smartphone. Plus it has thousands of apps, is rock stable and has the best browser IMO. Posting from mine now ;)

Really, a 24 month/£35 a month contract, the 16GB version is still £90 and you only get 600 mins, 500 texts and unlimited data.

You can get a Motorola Milestone for only £50 on a 18 month/£35 a month contract and you get 700 mins, unlimited texts and data. The iPhone isn't worth that.

The n900 appeals to me most out of the ones mentioned but it isn't available on my network (three mobile) yet. Any idea if it will be any time soon?

Iphone contracts are rubbish on text allowance even before you have to buy the phone

iPhone deals really are a joke. Considering the phone is more of a fashion thing now than a gadget, as it was intended. :p

Have a look at the HTC Hero, HD2 (if you can stand windows mobile), and the Nokia N900. I would recommend the latter for what you have suggested, but only you can make the right choice!

Feel free to ask any more questions :)

The HD2 would be awesome if it didn't have Windows Mobile :p Winmo is ok, but Android is above and beyond it in nearly every way.

N900 or Motorola Milestone. The iPhone is a trend item and just isn't worth the premium.

It actually works out the same if you buy the iPhone 3GS 16GB PAYG for £450 and then get a simplicity contract for £20 a month with 1200 Texts, 600 mins and unlimited internet bolt on. At least you won't be tied in for 24 Months.

Move network for a better deal tbh. If you liked the N97, the N900 is like that should've been and more.

samsung pixon 12

We'll just forget you said that because you're new....

op asked a simple question so got a simple answer. ive just upgraded to one from an i phone and im amazed. it does so much stuff so much better than the i phone!

Enjoy your holiday;)...personal attacks arent allowed.

Id say the iphone if what the OP has said above is what he wants to do with it...cant think of anything that comes close to it including the n900 and HTC HD2 which is nice but freakin huge:eek:...the N900 is far too buggy for my liking so wouldnt consider one at the moment.

He didn't ask what is better than the iPhone. He asked what the best phone is at the moment, and what you suggested isn't even in the running for it really.

Nice personal insult too, kiddo.

Step 1: Leave Three

Step 2: Join my situation.... HTC HD2, Milestone, N900, N97 Mini...

Having played with one today, the HTC has it over the Milestone by a nose, and if the Milstone Keyboard is the same size as the N900 (i.e. tiny as ****) then it will be HTC all the way for me come the end of the month.
