My last phone was an N95 8GB.
Well, I got a Blackberry Storm last week - although it had a lot of plus points, it also had it's share of bad things. I liked typing, the screen was lovely, battery life was excellent (although many complained about it, I had one charge last three days) and I found it easy to use. It's camera was awful (I mean going back three upgrades awful) and the software was buggy and nearly made me have to restore my system. Roxio Media Manager is the work of the devil. So yesterday I spent 70 minutes on the phone to Vodafone and this morning....
....my N96 arrived. I thought to myself, it's an upgraded N95, basically - how could it possibly be a bad phone. Well, Nokia have managed to produce a very buggy phone - whether that is due to the Vodafone firmware or just the phone itself, I cannot tell. Opening the camera can take up to two minutes (and even then it just discarded a photo I took), I'm still trying to access a text message that came through half an hour ago and wifi will not work, no matter what I try - even disabling security on my router. That said, when it is working smoothly, it's quick and the screen is lovely, I like the interface too. The phone itself is really nice to hold and the slide is something I think Nokia have struggled with for years - but now they have it right - it's smooth and firm. Oo-er.
So, this phone is going back as well. I'm staying with my N95 8GB for a little while longer, I think. It doesn't give me any hassle and, apart from a tiny wiggle in the slide, has served me remarkably well over the last 12 months.
*gives his N95 8GB a cuddle*
