Can't compare different chains... because they're different.
Have to compare the same chain on the same bike under the same conditions with and without the SO.
How do other owners with Scotties find it?
Ok, well thinking back to when I had no Scottoiler on my Hornet and then had a Scottoiler, the chain stretch was exactly the same, no better with the Scottoiler. The only thing I got out of it was a slightly cleaner looking chain and more mess. Plus, it didn't lube (more importantly, protect) the inside of my chain, even after manually applying some of the lube to allow for capillary action as recommended.
Nah, I didn't have to warm up, you don't really have to with or without choke/carbs, as long as you remember to turn the choke off once you get going!Do you need to warm the bike up pre-ride? That's when I alter mine, if it needs it. Small thing to do while gioing about your daily POWER checks, really.
Mine ain't... Are you using Blue or Red?
I only have two settings - About 4 for in-town and 8 if I'm doing business miles that day.
It takes a little trial and error to find what's best for you and your specific bike, which you figure out in a week or so, but that is it.
I used blue stuff. It's well known, and even Scottoiler themselves say the weather makes a big difference on flow rate.
I just never got on with the thing in the end. At first, it seemed great - no more having to put it on the stand and lube, and the lube lasted forever with the original small bottle lasting a good 6 months, but after a while, having to change the flow rate and the mess got tiresome. Not worth it over a decent lubing every week / after a wet ride, unless you're touring imo.
And yes, I did try loads of different settings and even got advice from Scottoiler themselves!
Was a bit of a waste of money for me really
