Best place to live / buy a house in Bristol?

Requesting audio clip of forum users speaking like a Bristolian.

Let's make this happen.

If I knew how to make this happen I would. Proper Bristolian accent here :D

I just bought my first home in Bishopsworth, is up the hill from Bedminster, with no traffic I can get to town in 10mins, and the motorway in about 15

St Werburghs (previous residence), Montpelier, Redland (current residence), Westbury on Trym, Bishopston, St Andrews, Areas of Bedminster etc would all fit the bill.

BTW Sneyd Park > Clifton :)

And St Pauls isn't bad at all. Southmead, Lockleaze, Knowle, Hartcliffe etc are far rougher.

Knowle is not rough.

Knowle West is.

Montpelier is a hole. Very Bohemian, no doubt, but the proximity to the dodgy areas makes for some interesting people.

Frenchay Village is a nice place near the park. It's sort of off the main drag so not so urban compared to the surrounding areas.

Mic and soundcloud would do it :)

I'll do it Sunday night if no one has by then

You are a beautiful man.

Eastville / Easton, St. Pauls, Knowle West, & Hartclife are really nice parts of bristol.

I ain't THAT stupid! :p

Houses there are nice but the area's a bit devoid of character/life in my view.

Not bad if you're a drug dealer! Generally agree with you about the other places though, Southmead in particular. Parts of Knowle/Totterdown aren't too bad but obviously wouldn't be anything close to your first choice of places to live.

OP- what do you want / need to be near to?

I've only ever lived in Clifton and the surrounds (Cothan / Redland). Strictly speaking I don't necessarily 'need' to be close to anything other than reasonable access to the motorway for London, but the appeal of Bristol (for me anyway) is Clifton. I love the vibe, the atmosphere, its relaxed but with stuff going on feel, closeness to town, closely to the motorway, people there are pleasant etc. And those Georgian houses are absolutely beautiful.

I've lived practically everywhere in the UK now and would love to find a route back. There's no other place like Clifton in my view but I am struggling to afford it (max budget circa £200k), so may have to lower my sights and explore property in other areas.

Depends how far out of the centre you want to go.

Bradley Stoke / Stoke Gifford are good areas, highly , and you can get on the M4/M32 via the Aztec West junction, which is very very close.

I've lived in several parts of Bristol over the last 12 years. Clifton was the 2nd worst (only Bradley Stoke was worse). The best is Windmill Hill / Victoria Park in my opinion. Great community, close to Temple Meads and M32.

In what way was Bradley stoke the worst place in Bristol for you to live?

Serious lack of culture, there's just nothing there! It's just like a dormitory or grown up student halls for folks working in large corps. Very little diversity, no independent shops. Awful build quality and architecture. The place is just totally soulless.
