Best place to live in the UK

Apparently Wadhurst has been awarded the Best place to live in the uk. Not even sure how come to these results, I've always thought it was a dump full of estate agents and charity shops, doesn't even have a bank.

Most likely some geezer has got a development down there and needs capital to start shifting houses. Couple of brown envelopes later to the times and hey presto.

Dunkeld winning for Scotland imo is pretty spot on, having lived not far from it for a good number of years - I'd happily move there for my retirement years.

These lists change all the time and I'm not convinced the locations massively change in the space of a year or two. I don't really see how a place can go from not being on a list one year and then all of a sudden placing really highly the next.
I think it would make a lot more sense to have tiers (perhaps for different categories depending on what lifestyle people are looking for) and hence less volatility year on year, you'd have the top category with a small handful of towns dropping in and out each year, basically much less volatile.

Might not sell many newspapers though.

Richmond (south east London) is up there.

Very scenic, next to Richmond park, great
transport links into central London, decent enough night life. Just a lovely area all round.

Only downside is it’s expensive as hell
