I was thinking of something thats a little easier like lightroom, as ive seen portrait software in some magazines but just wanted users opinion

Well depending on what you want to do, Photoshop is the ultimate but Lightroom 2 will do some basic re-touching.

If you can use Lightroom, chances are you can use Photoshop

. Things like the spot removal tool / healing brush are pretty much point + click.

And the fact it will work seamlessly with Lightroom is extremely useful.
