Best ram for this mobo

My mobo is Asus P4C800-E Deluxe, with RAM Slots of 4 DDR DIMM - if I wanted the best and fastest ram - what should I choose please ?

Any help appreciated.

As thats a DDR motherboard new RAM is a bit expensive (and currently out of stock on OCUK). How much do you currently have?

You may want to shop around and see what you can get, but if the price goes over £50 for the upgrade then I seriously suggest you look into getting a new system (cpu/mobo/RAM).

Aye, there is DDR2 and DDR3 now. Though you need a motherboard which is designed to use this RAM, unfortunately a DDR motherboard cannot take DDR2 or DDR3 sticks.

Thanks for that and I forgot to reply to your question - I currently have 2 x 512 Mb

Just wondering now . . . What's the best Asus mobo, that has the latest technology, (but NOT with ram already locked into the board) please ?

You could spend 40 quid on another 2x1GB for your existing board giving you 3GB or a lot less on another pair of 512's giving you 2GB, yes it's money on a DDR but it's going to be a comparatively cheap upgrade compared to buying a new board, ram and cpu/heat sink and possibly PSU. A well known auction site is probably your best bet as OCUK is out of stock on DDR.
