Hi Guys,

I'm looking to take up road cycling.

What is the best road bike for £300ish.

My google skills have picked up the Triban 3.

Does anyone else have any other contenders or is this the one to go for?

Thanks

All the reviews I have read have been very positive.

I just wanted to check if there was anything else out there before committing.

I'm not sure I like the idea of 2nd hand bike which I know is stupid. I just like shiny new things :)

That says "from £595" so it doesn't fit into my price range unfortunately.

I would be willing to go slightly higher for a big difference in quality but not that much higher.

£569.95

Still more than your budget I admit.

Loads of 2nd hand bargains on eBay, I sold a Cannondale R600 that cost me £1000 for your budget, and it was 'as new'
Still kicking myself now TBH.

I got my road bike second hand off a local cycling clubs website, might be worth looking in your local area?

I clicked on this to suggest Triban 3 but I guess there's no need.

No such thing new, I have linked the best inexpensive roadbike.

Thread should read "I'm going to buy a Triban 3 what do you think?"

what you mean there's no such thing? triban 3 is the best bike you can get for 300 quid ?! what are you trying to say its not a road bike? im not sure i got you here.

Buy the Triban 3 then! /thread.

That Ribble is THE best entry level road bike full stop.

theres no point saying that. as its double the OP's bugdet.
i love my ribble pro carbon. and i would recommend ribble to anyone.

but in OP's case. its either a the triban or a second hand one.
i personally would go second hand.

Good grief! Fan boy??

I have owned Cannondales costing £2500.

That Ribble for the money is a great bike.

If you want the Decathalon bike buy the ******* thing and stop trolling.

whats up with you? calm yourself down jeez :) I'm not even trolling! it might be a great bike for the money but its double the OP's budget! if he had that kind of money he would have asked for a best road bike for 600!

jeez.. some people.

Well OP has answered the question himself in the first post..

What's the point of posting on a forum if you already know the answer?

Calm the hell down! He said he's got as far as the Triban 3 and is wondering whether he's missed anything. What on earth is wrong with you? And then you get the hump when people point out that your suggestion is about twice the suggested budget?

For my money... Get the Triban 3 or go second hand. Browse eBay for bikes in that price range within a distance you're prepared to drive.
