Best seaside location in England/Wales?

Dump, dump and dump.

Try Bournemouth or Devon. Rest of the country's seaside's are holes.

I went to University in Bournemouth. It was great during the week, but come the weekend the place got full of thugs looking for trouble. Stag dos appear to be the order of the day too.

This was back in 2000 to 2004 and has got worse it appears, as I now spend the odd weekend down there for Uni get togethers and come across trouble everytime I'm there.

I can think of far better places to go in the UK and Margate is one of them, and that says a lot.

Bournemouth beaches are nice if you know how to get to some of the smaller ones, the main one is just horrifically busy usually. Bournemouth does however remain the only place I have encountered with bouncers at a McDonalds.

St Ives is lovely, as are many other places in Cornwall. Depends how far you're willing travel.

Walton-On-The-Naze... Not really but I have awesome memories as kid there. The sea water their is actually pretty clean there for Essex.

North Devon Coast, or North Cornwall Coast. Nice Sandy Beaches, great surf if your into that sort of thing. But you will be pushing it to get any sun this time of year, although last week felt like mid summer, now more like October.

I forgot to mention West Witterings at Chichester in Sussex is also quite nice and not as far to drive as Devon and Cornwall.
