Best Sim-Only plans? EE/Vodafone/VOXI / Others?

The one thing you do need to be aware with the MVNOs is exactly which services they are reselling. For example, EE gives me the best signal so I saw that 1pmobile and Spusu were the best alts.

However, the way they handle WiFi calling is quite different.

Spusu has major delays for the system to kick in, and your conversation can end up having a lag on it. Some research indicated that they're using their own servers in the EU (Austria, I think) and the lag is pretty bad.

1pmobile, meanwhile, does piggyback off the EE WiFi calling system, so it's just as good as EE.

One thing I've found annoying on Android. When I use EE WiFi calling it displays an icon in the status bar to indicate it. No worries. On Mozillion (and Lebara but they're Vodafone) it displays as a notification not as well as the icon. When it connect and disconnects the notification sounds like you've got a message.

I wonder if it linked to this.
 
Put my son a a test with lebara deal for 1.95 and really for £11 when it finishes its still cheaper than vodafone so i might look to move everyone else over unless i am missing something people here can tell me? I dont get why its so cheap compwred to vodafone, i always buy my phone anyway.
 
Just switched from Lebara to IDMobile. 50GB/£7

I have noticed that WiFi calling on ID only turns on if the mobile signal is nearly off, i.e. prefer mobile over WiFi set, which is what happens at my house resulting in really poor call quality.
Lebara turned on as soon as I got in the house, i.e. prefer WiFi over mobile but the option has been disabled on ID.
I had to use the PixelIMS hack to re-enable the option to prefer WiFi calling.

At least it's only a 30 Day rolling contract, I'll see how it goes.

For EE signal, Spusu and 1p Mobile are popular choices and I see Mozillion now joined the party, only seem to have been operating for less than 6 months but if want to take a punt they are offering 100gb monthly data for £149, 24 month contract.

Lebara is one of the more popular choices with constant offers for Vodafone signal, TalkMobile is similar but they do a credit check (if that matters) when you take out their SIM plans.

Spusu I found awful (twice). Support staff very good but the network refused to work with WiFi calling RELIABLY.... whereas Lebara just worked with no effort for WiFi calling... given 80% of calls originate inside a home with WiFi... that seems quite fundamental to me

That's what I'm finding with IDMobile, had to do a hack to get it to switch to WIFI calling as even when my call was breaking up due to poor signal it still wouldn't switch.
Looks like I'm heading back to Lebara. Also noticed IDMobile do a hard search on your credit file whereas Lebara don't.

Have to say Lebara based on Vodafone is the worst network coverage I've ever had but at least WiFi calling works
